Mother’s Day is coming up very quickly. If you’re like many, you’re a last-minute type of person so hopefully; we can come up with a few last minutes ideas to save you from doing nothing and being in the dog house. So let’s start;
Breakfast in bed. Unless you worried that you may burn the house down with that old toaster while you’re half asleep, give breakfast a try. You know the tray with Mom’s favorite fruit or pancakes and of course, don’t forget that one single flower in the vase.
Brunch: Did you know that Mother’s Day is just about the busiest restaurant day of the year? If you have not booked a table for brunch yet, you may want to rethink this one. Although, it doesn’t hurt to call around. Brunch is great because you can hit it in the middle of that day and still have the rest of the day to please Mom in any way.
Dinner: OK, how’s that list of babysitters doing? Can you grab one for the evening? Once again, the restaurants are generally full on Mother’s Day so if you have not booked your table, you just could be out of luck. If you don’t have a babysitter, cook something nice, invite the family over to grill or if you’re really stuck with the kids, how about the drive thru… Yeah, that one might get you in trouble.
Jewelry is nice but put some thought into buying a gift this time. Don’t just do what the commercials tell you to do. Take a couple minutes and really think this one through. Buy her something that will make her say wow! And don’t hit the dude with the half-dead flowers on the side of the road in the van that is rotting and 30 years old. (Unless that’s your only option) But really, put some thought into it.
Donate to charity. Many of us have lost our mothers whether to disease or natural cause etc… Wouldn’t it be nice if you sent your father a card that said you made a donation to charity in your mother’s name? There are several charities that would be more than happy to receive a gift right now to honor someone. Use this opportunity to honor your mother or the favorite mother in your life.
