Going Green?

OK, everyone is “Going Green.” And yes, those are quotation marks around that phrase. (A little bit of tongue and cheek.)While many are legitimately going green and making a credible effort to help reduce waste, and clean up their own personal environment, many are making what others would call ridiculous claims. It’s become a bit of a sore spot for many. “We have to go Green…” And as the phrase goes…OMG. They are many PR people out there pushing that their client has gone green when in fact, they are only doing the bare minimum or trying to push something that isn’t very environmentally friendly.

Most companies in my humble opinion and the opinions of others are implementing green practices purely for PR value. They believe that if they promote that they are “green” that they will enhance their customer loyalty. Well, they’re correct. They can develop more brand loyalty by implementing a few green practices. But let’s not fool the public into thinking that by just recycling, you’ve just gone green. Recycling has been going on for years. It’s nothing new. There are countless other ways not only individuals can implement green practices but businesses as well. In fact, they should.

Are you recycling? That would be first and of course a no-brainer. Then ask yourself if you’re doing your part to help the environment in other ways. Saving water, saving electricity, reducing any emissions you can control, walking to work if you can or talking public transportation. How about your home. What do you clean your house with and what are you using to fertilize your lawn and garden?

Are you eating the foods that create less of an impact on the environment and promote sustainability? Many food products now are produced in plants and other facilities that really pay attention to the environment. And yes, these products are usually better for you in the process.

Now, how about your pet? Can your pet go green? There are many ways in which you pet can help you go green. From the products you use and the foods your feed your pet, there is a whole industry dedicated to helping you and your pet help the environment and promote a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.

We came across a great video that suggests all the ways you can help your pet “go green.” Take a look and give us your thoughts.
