Scooping Poop

Let’s face it, no one wants to talk about it or deal with it but poop happens. Now that summer is here and temperatures are warmer, it is important to pay particular attention to your pet’s business. It goes without saying that it is proper pet etiquette to pick up droppings when you take your dog, cat or ferret for a walk around the block. Leaving surprises on your neighbor’s lawn is not only disgusting it does not foster good relations with those on your street. This is easy to do with waste baggies that attach right onto your pet’s leash making poop scooping convenient. However, when it comes to getting rid of your pet’s fecal matter whether it is derived from walks, the dog pen in the backyard or their cage, there are reasons in warm weather you need to properly dispose of your pet’s waste.

Warmer temperatures cause parasites and pets found in pet feces to thrive and become more active and aggressive than normal. When kids are out of school and running around the yard to burn off extra energy, they are constantly running inside and outside tracking whatever may be on the bottom of their shoes into the house. If pet waste is around the yard, it is important to keep it away from kid’s play areas to avoid it from spreading infection and other diseases to your children and around the house. Also, summertime means cook outs and nothing will kill and appetite more than the pungent smell of animal feces that is amped up by heat and humidity. This means not only picking up the poop around your yard to keep it from offending guests but it also means taking measures for proper disposal. Pooping poop right into a garbage can is similar to putting it into the microwave; heat will cause the smell to become fierce and getting rid of the stench regardless of where your rubbish barrels are located is impossible. Be sure to get rid of feces in a tightly sealed garbage can and maybe take an extra step to wrap it tightly in a plastic bag to prevent odor and additional problems that may arise if flies and maggots and other animals invade your trash to get at baking waste.

It may seem that pet waste is great for your garden, landscapes or bedding plants however, pet poop is not fertilizer as it is highly acidic and contains animal proteins that will damage your flowers, bushes and vegetables. It can destroy lawn equipment due to its chemical make up so be sure to remove it from the grass before you mow over it. Although you love your pet, it is natural not to love the mess they may leave behind. If you enjoy cuddling with Fido or Fifi but picking up doo-doo is not your cup of tea, you are in luck. Poop scoop companies are rising in popularity. A waste removal service will come to your yard and have your pet’s indiscretions removed from the premises. Taking a few special measures with your pet poop in the summer time can man fun times in the yard and happy guests at your get togethers.
